Loss Control Services

Loss Control is the ability to define areas of potential loss before they occur or to prevent further loss from accidents that have occurred in the past. It is a way to control costs, effectively manage claims and enhance the work environment to promote productivity, growth and profitability.

Lutgert Insurance works with the insured to find the most reasonable approach to balancing the potential for loss and the cost to the insured. Our Loss Control Services Department offers Florida Certified Workplace Safety Program development, Drug-Free Workplace assistance, regulatory compliance expertise, worksite risk assessments, safety committee development, employee safety training, Workers Compensation case management, accident investigations, and safety trend analysis. All of these services are offered to our valued clients at no additional charge.

Director of Loss Control Services

Scott has worked in the safety and health field for over 20 years. As the Director, Loss Control Services his expertise includes safety policy writing, safety training, regulatory research, drug-free and certified safety programs, OSHA recordkeeping, site inspections and subsequent reports, safety committee development, loss run analysis, accident investigations, OSHA trend analysis, Job Safety Analysis, and new hire orientations for construction, agricultural, hospitality, and general industry clients.  Prior to joining Lutgert Insurance in 2004, he was employed by Advantec as a Risk Control Consultant where he provided client safety training and consultation and completed contracted pre-survey risk assessments.  Scott has also been employed in the ornamental horticulture industry by Yoder Brothers, Inc. (Aris Horticulture) as the Corporate Safety and Health Manager.  His responsibilities included developing, implementing, and coordinating safety improvement efforts and regulatory compliance for facilities in Florida, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and California.  Scott held the position of Transportation Safety Specialist / Safety Project Engineer while working in the hurricane window industry for PGT Industries.  While employed at Southern Gardens Citrus Processing, a subsidiary of US Sugar Corporation, as the Safety and Environmental Specialist he developed an OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) structured safety department.  He also filled the positions of Quality Control Manager and Fruit Receiving Team Leader while employed with Southern Gardens.  Scott was a member of the initial VPP safety committee and ISO 9001 implementation team while employed at Tropicana Products, where he also held positions in quality control, shipping, and warehousing.

Scott attended Clarion State University, Mercyhurst College, and the Center for Degree Studies while earning a Specialized Business Degree.  He is an American Red Cross certified instructor, an OSHA authorized trainer, an ISO 9001 certified auditor, and has a Department of Transportation Commercial Motor Vehicle Regulatory compliance certification. He is also an elected member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and has earned certification as an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist in Construction by The National Association of Safety Professionals.
